Etheridge votes for emergency unemployment bill
Washington, D.C. -— Rep. Bob Etheridge, the only North Carolina member of the House Ways and Means Committee, voted to improve North Carolina’s economy and provide stability to North Carolina families hard-hit by the economic downturn.

County will withdraw from phase of water plan
According to Vance County Board of Commission Chair Dan Brummitt, the county must withdraw from its planned Phase 1B of its water plan to allow the Kittrell Water Association (KWA) to proceed with the plan in its place.

Purdue launches smoke-free Web site
Gov. Bev Perdue announced on Thursday the launch of www.SmokeFree.NC.gov, a website to help implement North Carolina’s new law that requires restaurants, bars and lodging establishments that serve food and drink to go smoke-free as of January 2, 2010.
