The Vance County Board of Commissioners recessed their regular meeting on Monday night in order to convene as the Vance County Water Board.
The water board then acted to withdraw its application for Phase 1B of its water plan in favor of allowing the Kittrell Water Association to supply water to the portion of Vance that would have been covered by the county’s water plan.
County Manager Jerry Ayscue made the recommendation contingent upon receiving written notification from the Kittrell association.
Member Dan Brummitt commented that the withdrawal of the application does not “disable” the county, but is part of the process necessary to allow Kittrell’s water supplier to submit its application. Should the deal fall through, the county can re-submit its funding application to the USDA.
