Vance County resident Charles Wilson was recognized on Monday by the Vance County Board of Commissioners for his work in promoting local tourism.

Wilson, the husband of Vance County Tourism Director Nancy Wilson, was cited for providing pontoon boat transportation at Kerr Lake events for people and fireworks, installing and taking down banners, promoting and volunteering for the annual, nationaliy-recognized Show, Shine, Shag, and Dine automobile event, as well as a myriad of other efforts on behalf of tourism in the county.

Wilson said that he was “honored”, and that his efforts were “just my way of giving back”. He was then presented with a check for $25.

Commissioner Deborah Brown then recognized a long list of individuals, businesses, and civic organizations who have also labored on behalf of promoting Vance, including Eddie Ellington, the Kerr Lake Volunteer Fire Department, and Boy Scout Troop 630.
