Interdepartmental investigation leads to arrest


On January 6, 2010 Torrey Rossell Kersey, 24, of 458 Swain Drive in Henderson was arrested and charged with four counts of trafficking stolen identifications, four counts of possession of stolen goods, and four counts of financial transaction card theft.

Kersey received a $230,000 secured bond. He remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court date of January 18, 2010.

Kersey’s charges stemmed from a joint investigation between the Henderson Police Department, the South Hill, Virginia Police Department, and the Raleigh Police Department into vehicle burglaries that were occurring at hotels in both North Carolina and in Virginia.

On October 28, 2009 a search warrant was executed by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division in conjunction with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office on the residence at 458 Swain Drive in Henderson. During the search, numerous stolen items related to the vehicle burglaries in Virginia and Raleigh were located and charges were filed.

Kersey has eight pending cases in Wake County for eight charges of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.
