On January 24, 2010 around 6:00 a.m., members of the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a 911 call from the Quail Run Apartment complex in reference to a suspicious person looking inside vehicles.
Upon the arrival of the initial patrol officer, a blue Buick Park Avenue was seen leaving the area with its lights turned off. The patrol officer conducted a traffic stop and detained the subject.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that a Buick Century that was parked in the apartment complex’s parking lot had been broken into and a CD player had been removed. The CD player was located inside the vehicle the officer had stopped. The driver, Darik Chavis, 19, of 828 High Street in Henderson, North Carolina was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and property damage.

Chavis was given a secured bond of $6,000, and he remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court date of March 16, 2010.
