During this past Thursday’s first-ever quarterly meeting of the Henderson-Vance Community Watch Association, Crime Stoppers Chair Rev. Frank Sossamon stressed the importance of of completing the 2010 census form.
According to the South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church pastor, only 57% of Vance residents filled out the form during the last census.
Congressional districts, interstate highway system funding, grants, and numerous other items are based on census data.
Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce President Bill Edwards told the audience that North Carolina could potentially move from the tenth most populous state to the eighth.
“I can’t emphasize the importance of it enough now,” Edwards said.
The Chamber president told the audience that census sites will be set up, and there will be publicity for them.
