The Henderson City Council honored this year’s pee wee basketball champions during Monday’s regular meeting.

The team, Bishop’s Radiator & Tune Up Services, consists of nine seven-to-nine year old boys.

According to Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary, this year’s team had only two returning players, with the balance of the team first-time players.

The team did not win a single game last year. During the last season, they were known as the the Blue Devils.

“May be why you didn’t win,” O’Geary quipped in reference to the University of North Carolina’s recent crushing defeat of Duke University in basketball.

The Bishop’s Radiators team boasts an 11-2 record for the season.

The mayor told the council meeting audience that the team stresses the importance of respect, working as a team, and positive behavior both on and off the court.

The team was guided by Coach Miller and Coach Shearin.
