On April 8, 2010 around 4:00 p.m. officers with the Henderson Police Department received a call in reference to a vehicle, a 1994 Honda Accord, which had just been stolen from the parking lot of JJ’s Fish and Chicken located at 1202 E. Andrews Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina.
Minutes later a deputy with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office observed the vehicle in the Vicksboro Road area of the county. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The deputy pursued the vehicle to the Coghill Dickerson Road area where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.
A canine track was conducted without the suspect being located.
A few hours later, around 7:00 p.m., the suspect was seen exiting the wooded area, and was apprehended by deputies.
Upon further investigation by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, the suspect, Daniel Guerrette, 24, of 140 Blackberry Lane in Warrenton, North Carolina was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Guerrete was taken before the magistrate and was given a $35,000 secured bond for the larceny and possession charges.
In addition the charges obtained by investigators with the Henderson Police Department, Guerrete was also charged with resisting, delaying, and obstructing an officer, hit and run property damage, felony speed to elude, aggressive driving, and driving while license revoked for the incident with the deputy. Guerrette received a $35,000 secured bond for these charges.
Guerrette also had an outstanding warrant out of Wake County for felony probation violation. He received a $100,000 secured bond for that charge. Guerrette remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court appearance on April 26, 2010.
