HPD goes on-line with NCAWARE

On April 7, 2010 the Henderson Police Department became on-line with the NCAWARE, the North Carolina Warrant Repository.

NCAWARE is “…a comprehensive statewide repository of unserved criminal processes…and [is] widely accessible to all North Carolina court officials and law enforcement officers [for] all orders, summons warrants, release orders, appearance bonds and orders for arrest…” (NCAWARE Training Manual, November 09, North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts).

On April 8th, 2010 members of the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigation Division arrested and charged Daniel Guerrette, 24, of 140 Blackberry Lane, Warrenton, North Carolina. Upon checking Guerrette in the NCAWARE system, investigators were able to determine that he had an outstanding process out of Wake County for felony probation violation. Guerrette received a $100,000 secured bond for this charge.

Without NCAWARE, it might take days or months to determine that defendants have outstanding process out on themselves in other parts of the state. With NCAWARE, it takes seconds.

Since coming on-line with NCAWARE, the Henderson Police Department has been able to locate and serve numerous defendants with outstanding processes.
