Officer W.R. “Will” Aiken
After being nominated by his Division Commander, Lt. M.L. Perry, Officer W.R. Aiken has been named “Henderson Police Department Officer of the Month” for April 2010.
Officer Aiken had a successful month in April. During this month he made six arrests, four being for felonies, and served ten warrants. During this month he investigated 34 incidents. He also wrote 24 citations. He answered 90 calls for service.
Officer Aiken arrested a suspect during a traffic stop on Alexander Avenue for Possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a revoked license. During this incident a total of four grams of marijuana was seized.
Aiken arrested a suspect for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after locating him in a house while trying to serve a felony warrant. The suspect was lighting a marijuana cigarette when Aiken encountered him.
Aiken charged a suspect with possession of drug paraphernalia after locating a spoon, a syringe and heroin wrappers during a traffic stop on East Andrews Avenue.
Officer Aiken arrested a suspect for driving while impaired on Dabney Drive after conducting a traffic stop.
Aiken began his career with the Henderson Police Department in December of 2008 after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University. During the last semester of his time at ECU, Aiken served as an intern with the Services Division of the Henderson Police Department and was hired following his completion of his college education. Aiken graduated Basic Law Enforcement Training at Vance-Granville Community College.
Aiken graduated from Northern Vance High School in Vance County in 2004.
Aiken comes from a family with a law enforcement tradition. He is the grandson of retired Vance County ABC Officer and Sheriff’s Deputy William “Bill” Aiken and the nephew of Sergeant J.D. “Jeff” Aiken of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. He is also a volunteer fireman with the Cokesbury Volunteer Fire Department and has been for eight years.
Aiken continues to be an asset to the Henderson Police Department. His committed service to the citizens of Henderson is demonstrated through a continued effort to achieve excellence.
