On April 28, 2008 at 3:30 p.m., members of the Henderson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the residence located at 926 Gay Street.
Upon the execution of the search warrant, narcotics officers located illegal drugs inside of the residence. A firearm was also located in the residence.
After completing the search and the investigation, Derrick Sterling Miles was taken into custody and charged on a state level. The case was presented to the federal authorities at which time agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms adopted the case.
Miles was then indicted on federal charges and taken into federal custody. On May 12, 2010, Derrick Miles pleaded guilty to federal charges and was sentenced to 134 months in a federal penitentiary.
