HPD retail “walk-through” patrol makes arrest

In an effort to address recent reports of shoplifting and larceny at local stores, officers of the Henderson Police Department have been increasing the number of “walk-through” patrols made in retail businesses.

On May 15,2010, two Henderson Police Department officers conducting a walk-through of Wal-Mart at 200 North Cooper Drive stopped Kayla Jo Chitty of Oxford as she was leaving the store. Officers found that Chitty had concealed two quarts of GTX motor oil taken from the automotive department of Wal-Mart, valued at $7.54. Chitty was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting/concealment of goods and issued a citation to appear in court on that charge.
