Recently, several friends and I visited Mr. John M. Roberts in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Mr. Roberts owns and operates J.M. Roberts’ Mowers & Saws on Churton Street where he specializes in the repair of Gravely Mowers as well as providing parts for these rare machines.
Mr. Roberts is an 80 year old gentleman who works in his place of business every day with a tremendous attitude founded in “Hard Work”. He has worked for the past 50 years repairing chain saws and mowers for customers from the surrounding areas.
As we waited for his repair work to be completed, we noticed a plaque on the wall near his desk, dusty, but still worth reading. When we asked Mr. Roberts about the plaque, he smiled and told us, “I saw that in the Readers Digest many, many years ago. I liked it so well that I had in placed on the back of my business card”.
Mr. Roberts then reached into his desk drawer, cluttered with treasures from over the years, and gave each one of us a card. I think you will appreciate it as much as Mr. Roberts and we did. Please read the following:
SOCIALISM: If you have two cows, you give your neighbor one.
COMMUNISM: If you have two cows, you give them to the government and the government gives you milk.
FASCISM: If you have two cows, you keep the cows, and give the milk to the government and the government then sell you some of the milk.
NEW DEALISM: If you have two cows, you shoot one and milk the other one and pour the milk down the drain.
NAZISM: If you have two cows, the government shoots you and keeps the cows.
CAPITALISM: If you have two cows, you sell one and buy a bull.
Remember, we deserve what we are willing to accept.
