In an effort to address recent reports of shoplifting and larceny at local stores, officers of the Henderson Police Department have been increasing the number of “walk-through” patrols made in retail businesses.

The Henderson City Council’s budget meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. has been canceled. No additional details were made available.

On May 14, 2010 at 11:21 p.m., members of the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to 923 Nicholas Street in reference to an assault that had occurred.
Breaking news: City council recinds 2011 tax increase
Home in Henderson correspondent Lewis Edwards reported a few minutes ago that the Henderson City Council agreed in a straw vote to rescind its proposed four cent tax increase in ad valorum property taxes in the proposed fiscal 2011 budget. The council agreed to find cuts elsewhere in the budget this evening during a budget work session that ended a few minutes before 8:00 p.m.

Board of ed. to hold called meeting on May 20
The Vance County Board of Education will hold a called meeting on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the Administrative Services Center’s Superintendent’s Conference Room located at 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina. The purpose of the meeting is to hold an executive session on personnel matters and to receive personnel recommendations for the 2010 and 2011 school year. Both matters will require board approval.
