
Officer Wesley Harris, the Henderson Police Department’s Officer of the Month for May of 2010
Officer Wesley Harris has been named the Henderson Police Department Officer of the Month for May 2010.
Officer Harris has been recognized in the past two months not only for his work ethic and performance by his sergeant and lieutenant, but he has also received two unsolicited citizen commendations in the month of April as well as comments to the command staff from citizens during the month of May.
Officer Harris is assigned to the Operations Division Patrol Section 1. He has been with the Henderson Police Department since June 15, 2009. Officer Harris is a past Officer of the Month recipient having received the recognition while he was still in field training.
On May 1, 2010, Harris investigated an incident at 615 Raleigh Road in which a victim reported that he had been kidnapped from the location and taken to another location where he was seriously assaulted and robbed of money. Harris followed up on the report and, with assistance of the victim, a suspect was identified and arrested for second degree kidnapping, common law robbery and assault inflicting serious injury.
On May 14, 2010 Harris investigated an incident that occurred in the area of Alex’s Market on Nicholas Street. A customer reported being seriously assaulted and robbed of money. Harris canvassed the area and was able to identify a suspect. The suspect was arrested for common law robbery.
In the month of May, Harris completed 26 incident reports and investigated four vehicle accidents. He issued eleven traffic citations, made four misdemeanor arrests and served six warrants.
