According to a press release from Henderson City Manager Ray Griffin, Henderson City Clerk Pam Glover will be retiring from city service effective July 1, 2010.
Glover announced her retirement during the Henderson City Council’s regular meeting on June 14, 2010.
Along with the city manager and the city attorney, the city clerk works directly for the city council.
Glover has served as the city clerk since September 1, 2008, replacing Dianne White who left Henderson for a job in Butner, North Carolina.
The retiring clerk has worked for the city since November of 1985 in varying capacities. Previous to her appointment to the position of city clerk, she served as an inspector in the city’s Code Compliance Department.
Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary commented that he has enjoyed working with Glover and was surprised and sad to learn of her retirement. He went on to say that the entire council has enjoyed working with her. City Manager Ray Griffin thanked Glover for her “many years of dedicated service” and wished her well in her retirement.
The city will be advertising for the position of city clerk in the near future. The council is expected to discuss interim measures to bridge the gap between Glover’s retirement and the hiring of a new clerk.
