During Monday’s meeting of the Henderson City Council, Assistant City Manager Frank Frazier outlined a contract with building concern H.G. Reynolds for a water extension project to the Brookhaven Village Mobile Home Park.
The trailer park that will be receiving city water is located on NC 39 near the Walmart Distribution Center.
According to Frazier, the park has had problems with its well water. The extension of city water to the site will result in 42 new water customers with the potential for others to be added to the line that will run to the park.
Customers in the mobile home facility will pay the outside rate for water, two-and-one-half times the rate charged to customers inside the Henderson city limits.
The $398,608 cost of the project is being funded by grants from the state, a fact that was confirmed by council member Mike Inscoe before the vote was taken. He also confirmed that no costs would be borne by the city.
Frazier added that the grant from the state also covers some of the city’s administrative costs for the project.
The resolution to approve the contract to H.G. Reynolds passed unanimously.
