Utopia, Texas is no longer a small town west of San Antonio and in the Hill Country of Texas, but now a movie-making Mecca.
We are the background for a movie being filmed here (7 Days at the Golf Course in Utopia) about an old golfer giving some good advice on living to a young golfer. The old golfer is being played by Robert Duvall, the young golfer is being played by Lucas Black. The waitress at the local restaurant is played by Deborah Ann Woll.
The restaurant is where all of the retirees and early riser workers gather to drink coffee and discuss the local and world problems. (The restaurant was closed yesterday, August 16, 2010, for filming a scene involving the actors. Nothing is resolved, just like the gatherings at Hardeeās in Henderson, but we can express our opinions without being taken out of context.
I am not one of the extras being used in the making of this movie. I guess the movie company figured that I might break the cameras, and since we are so far from Houston or Austin, the only cities that have repair facilities, they would not take a chance.
