The decision to cancel school for inclement weather is like running a blog. You can’t make everybody happy. Sometimes, you can’t make anybody happy. In the final analysis, you have to do what you believe is right and safe and best for those who have the most to lose.
We ask critics to remember that the decision as to whether or not to hold school in the face of inclement weather is a fairly weighty burden. The possibility of damage to hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment (a fairly large responsibility in itself) is itself overshadowed by the possible risk to the children who ride those buses, kids who could be injured, maimed, or killed because of harsh conditions. If one is to err in making such a decision, then we must respect and understand the need for that error to always be on the side of caution.
