Vance County Manager Jerry Ayscue told members of the Vance County Board of Commissioners during yesterday evening’s meeting that the county and the City of Henderson have “for the most part settled” on the rate at which Henderson will sell water to the county.
The county manager indicated that the governments are still “trying to determine the details that go into that”. He did not elaborate as to what those “details” are.
The county is also shopping for a site for an above-ground water storage tank to serve Phases 1A and 1B of the water project.
The location of the water storage tank was to be taken up in a closed meeting of the Vance County Water Board. The rate that has been negotiated between the city and the county for water was also to be disclosed in that closed session at the behest of Commissioner Dan Brummitt.
Ayscue also reported that the engineers continue to look at Phase 1A of the water project because sign-ups for water service continue to come in. He said that roads are being added to the Phase 1A system “here and there”.
As for Phase 1B of the system, Ayscue told members that the Kittrell Water Association is continuing to work with the USDA. He said that a sign-up campaign has been conducted and that sign-ups continue to come in for the 1B phase.
