Child car seat clinic Feb. 10

The Safe Kids Henderson – Vance Coalition will be sponsoring a free child passenger safety car seat clinic on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Compare Foods, East Andrews Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina.

Please come out and support the coalition.

Seats will be available for those parents who are in need of a child safety seat. We are asking for a donation of $20 for seats. The donations will help buy more seats so we can have more car seat checks.

We will be assisting parents in correctly installing their child safety seats. More than 85% of all seats in Vance County are installed incorrectly. Alarming numbers of children are not properly restrained while riding in vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, roughly three out of four child safety seats are used incorrectly. By educating parents and caregivers about child passenger safety, this event will help prevent motor vehicle injuries among children.

If you need more information, please call Lt. Irvin Robinson at 252.431.6061 or Officer Angela Feingold at 252.430.3165 both of the Henderson Police Department, or call Lt. Michelle King of the Henderson Fire Department at 252.431.6047.
