Traffic stop leads to arrest for stolen steaks


On Saturday, February 12, 2011, an officer of the Henderson Police Department conducted a vehicle stop on S. Beckford Drive in Henderson, North Carolina.

The stop was conducted because of an alleged motor vehicle violation.

The officer identified the driver as Tiffany Thomas, 23, of 531 Swain Drive in Henderson. There were two other occupants inside the vehicle.

Through further investigation, the officer determined that there were nine ribeye steaks inside the vehicle which allegedly had not been paid for. The steaks had been removed from Food Lion, 1650 N. Garnett Street in Henderson. In addition, it was alleged that Thomas was operating a motor vehicle while subject to an impairing substance.

Thomas was charged with driving while impaired, driving without an operator’s license, and misdemeanor larceny. Thomas was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a $3,500 secured bond. A hearing has been scheduled for February 22, 2011 in Vance County District Court.

The passengers in the vehicle, Paxton Marrow, 19, of 62 Meredith Street in Henderson and Stephanie Jeffreys, 48, of 409 Bobbitt Street in Henderson were charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. Marrow and Jeffreys were cited and released. A trial date of May 16, 2011 has been scheduled in Vance County District Court.
