Actions of the Henderson City Council on 2-14-11


Here are some other actions taken by the Henderson City Council during its regular monthly meeting on February 14, 2011:

  • The council voted unanimously to remove signs in the area of the old Clark Street Elementary School related to it being a school zone.
  • The council passed an ordinance allowing for a handicapped parking space on Wyche Street for Sunday mornings only.
  • An ordinance to provide four alternates for city and extra-territorial jurisdiction members each on the Planning Board was unanimously approved.
  • Planned improvements to Fox Pond Park were approved. The plan approves the thinning of lumber and its sale which will be used as a local funding match for the timber.
  • The mayor was authorized to sign an application for a grant/loan for improvement to the Henderson Water Reclamation Facility. The application is non-binding.
  • Council member Mike Inscoe was appointed the city’s liaison to the Vance County Board of Commissioners. The Henderson City Council also took steps to constitute itself as the new city Intergovernmental Committee as a committee of the whole.
  • Three demolitions were approved.
