There’s several things to do this weekend in and around Henderson. Check our calendar for details of this weekends events we’ve posted. If you know of more please let everyone know in the lines below. If you could help spread the word to area businesses and functions about our calendar it would benefit the whole community.
So, does anyone expect a sudden population decline this weekend?
I STAND FOR ISRAEL.
Ziggy, I am with you 100%! This administration is the worst I have ever seen in all my days. Obama has just jumped into bed with satan. Our country is doomed under this declaration. We will be cursed with a curse. You think things are bad now? Just wait. GOD have mercy or our country and the people who don’t jump in bed with these knuckleheads!

The Palestinians have been crucified for years. It’s about time they got their land back.
There has never been a race of people persecuted as the Jews have been. They have been here since the beginning. The “Land” in question was taken from them first. It is their’s to protect and protect they will. May GODS grace continue to be on them, their land and the IDF protecting their land. You can talk all day long to me and I will never turn my back on them. Stupid administration!
I totally agree with you, Mudball.
the Palestinians had a chance to have their land back..
they refused it.
Israel was attacked in 67, by 5 Arab countries.
They lost, Israel won.
at the time, Israel did offer huge concessions of land to the Palestinians.
it wasn’t Israel who danced in the streets about 9/11.
It was the Palestinians.
not one inch.
My computer is old and plug-in no longer works for the video. Could someone give me the gist of the video and what you are discussing here? The only news I heard yesterday was about Arnold Swarzeneger and American Idol.
Obama made a speech Thursday in which he reiterated US policy on an Israel and Palestine land swap to comply with the border agreements in 1967 after the Six Day War. The exact wording he used was: We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.
You can read a more detailed article here http://articles.cnn.com/2011-05-19/politics/obama.israel.palestinians_1_israel-palestinian-conflict-borders-settlements?_s=PM:POLITICS although there are tons of news stories abound with various viewpoints.
Obama embroils Israel when all of the problems in the MidEast are in other Arab countries and are about Democracy. His words and actions are very telling.
Is a CNN story going to be unbiased toward Israel?
Every president has to try to solve the Palestinian-Israeli problem. It’s as mandatory as baby-kissing, and about as useful. The solution is clear, it’s just that no one has the chutzpah to enact it. The powerless need to be made to feel enfranchised, and the enfranchised have to feel supervised. Once that happens, Arabs and Jews will get along as well as they always did throughout much of their history together.
The problem was allowing Israel to be formed in the Holy Land. Israel was supposed to be a secular state. It could have been founded anywhere, and among people less likely to raise a fuss and in a place where the world as a whole didn’t really care about the region a lot, like Madagascar. Instead, the worldwide shock of the Holocaust combined with a Zionist movement which emphasized the Holy Land came together at exactly the wrong time, and the embattled state of Israel was born.
I’m glad to see that FTWLOTR and Ira are not on here anymore.
“The powerless need to be made to feel enfranchised, and the enfranchised have to feel supervised”. What does that mean?
Arafat turned down Clinton’s deal for their own country, Palestinians don’t want peace or their own country, they wouldn’t know what to do with either one. Why is it only Israel has to sacrifice land and peace for the Palestinians. The other Arabs don’t care anything about the Palestinians, they just use them to keep the aggression going against the Jews.
Someone told me when you come into Israel, it is beautiful and clean and modern and squalor surrounds it. Israel is the only working Democracy in the Middle East. If you let Israel fall, then heaven help the world.
It means the way to achieve peace in the region is the raise the Palestinians up to the point where they have something worth losing, and to let the Israelis know that if they go overboard they have somebody to whom they have to answer, and that somebody should be us — the people who are bankrolling the operation.
Is it necessary that Israel and Palestine have 2 separate countries? If Israel would welcome the Palestines onto their land and stop committing terrible things against those people perhaps the Palestines wouldn’t feel forced to deal with Hamas and other organizations to hold their ground. Unfortunately it seems neither side are interesting in a melting pot and instead insist on boiling the pot over.
Thanks for the explanation. Geography nor history were ever my forte, and I would have to do a whole lot of studying Biblical and middle Eastern histo-graphy to even be able to enter into this discussion. You know, though, life is so short and it’s a shame some people go through war and strife their entire lives, just through their birthright. I’m sure most of those people know about as little as I do about how to solve the problems. I do not understand foreign policy, globalization, religion cum politics. What I do understand is peace and a full belly when I go to sleep at night, and wish that for everyone.
The real problem is that the Arabs will NEVER be satisfied. You could give them the world and they would be killing each other in masse because someone else had a little more than them. The land is Israel’s and it is in it’s rightful ownership. Israel has given, given and gave more. Those folks across the border would like to see NO Israel. I stand in support of Israel forever!
Jason I was kinda surprised at your statement.
Am I not allowed to have an alternative point of view?
Just said I was surprised it was coming from you. Not many Jewish people think like that. You are entitled to your opinion. I promise I won’t lose sleep if you won’t. That means both of us are satisfied in our beliefs.
how do we know that Ira or White Lines aren’t here?
Henry…how do we know you aren’t one of them?
I’m with Dagny and Mudball.
Phil…Israel is a Jewish state.
when you ask why doesn’t Israel welcome the Palestinians into their land, what you are talking about is the “right of return”.
if that happened…the Muslims would take over, and using the vote, would end the state of Israel.
how can you ignore the terrible things the Palestinians have done to the Israelis?
are you forgetting the constant shelling and bombs and suicide bombers?
why does Israel always get the blame?
There are Arabs/Muslims living in Israel, and evidently are satified, because they stay.
I repeat…the 6 Day War in 67 was an attack on Israel by Arab states. Not started by Israel.
and yes…we do send funding to Israel but we also fund the Palestinians.
too bad Arafat stole and misused much of it.
The “Zionists” wanted Israel BECAUSE it is the Holy Land…
the Holy Land of their Hebrew ancestors.
you might want to read “The Case for Israel” by Alan Dershowitz.
some time ago I ordered from the library, so it might be available there.
Phil…where are the numbers on the posts?
is the edit feature still available?
DID ANYONE MENTION THE STABBING AT LINCOLN HEIGHTS APT. ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 2:00? ONE MAN DEAD AND ANOTHER IN JAIL. TWO MORE LIVES RUINED IN HENDERSON.
I can confirm there is a police incident report that a victim was stabbed in the upper right leg on Sunday afternoon at 219 Lincoln Street. Sorry, but at this time that’s all the information I have.
Ziggy, the comment numbers should always be on the far left of the comment. You can still edit a comment that you just posted, the option to do so will not be there unless you have just posted a comment. You can only edit it for 5 minutes after the post I think it is.
The man died. He was stabbed several times. Shyheem Reavis is known to be the person doing the stabbing and Dominique Harris was the person killed. Shyheem was given a 100,000.00 bond. That was a bit low for murder, but then we do live in Henderson.
@ Mudball — They don’t? How many Jews do you know? I could introduce you to thousands of Jews in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn who think Israel is an abomination because it was re-founded before the coming of the Messiah.
You can also get good bacon in Tel Aviv.
To be succinct, we are not a monolithic group. There aren’t a lot of generalizations one can make that begin with the words “most Jews”.
I expect the Jews I know to understand that people should be allowed to move freely, not be imprisoned behind walls as we were in the ghettos. I expect Jews to understand that ethnic groups are not represented by the stereotypes others use to portray them, as we have been and as we are today. I expect Jews to know better than to harass and prejudge people based on their ethnicity. Yet this happens routinely in Israel. The fact that it is deemed necessary for the security of the Jewish state does not make it morally correct.
Well Jason, I do know some Jewish people and I do have some Jewish friends. I can say that you are the only one I know of personaly that makes a statement like you do. If I am reading your thoughts correctly it seems as if you are anti-Jewish statehood. As a Jewish person now that to me is strange. Giving the land or allowing the use of the land by any other person other than the Jews is anti-statehood in my book. For the people living in Israel life to them is defending their homeland as we do here in America when we feel threaten. Scores of Jews have fled back to Israel to live because of the belief that is their land to defend. There has been a worldwide exodus back to Israel. You say thousands of Jews living in NY think different? Maybe, just maybe they have been influenced by Western ideals. Have you? I know you Jason and I still am trying to figure out why you feel this way. Can you shed some light on why you feel this way. I really do not belive you are in the majority with the way you think.
Ira was banned and FTWLOTR was all ways controversial. How do we know you aren’t the Steg man?
Phil, I am not seeing the numbers of the posts.
can anyone else see them?
and sometimes posts are held in que and edit feature is missed by the time they appear.
who’s the Stegman?
just because Ira was “banned” doesn’t mean he/she isn’t here and posting again, does it?
LOL
I think Ira has moved to the Oxford blog. Haven’t heard from FTWLOTR.
Mudball…not all Jews have the same opinion, just as all Christians don’t have the same opinion.
There may still be some among the Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn who believe as Jason describes, tho many, once Israel was a fact, accepted it’s existence and embraced it.
I have no way of knowing the numbers of people who still hold that belief.
I could be in total misunderstanding of Jason’s meaning of who the thousands are.
in any case, The State of Israel is a fact and I think it has the right to defend itself, and I will continue to support Israel.
I think Ira has changed his/her name again and is posting in both places.
Ira wouldn’t be satisfied to be a troll in 1 blog if he/she can be a troll in 2.
@Mudball — You are not reading my thoughts correctly. I am not anti-Jewish statehood. I am anti- the way the Israelis treat the Palestinians.
So, the question is ‘if’ Ira comes back with a different name, and if he play’s nice should we keep him?
I can not believe Phil and Jason’s comments about Israel! They both need history lessons! Anyone remember the videos of those nice Palestinians celebrating at the pizza parlor after 9/11?
History lessons don’t negate current situations. If ‘modern’ Americans were to setup a blockade around Native Americans and starting building office complexes and section 8 housing and only allow very limited supplies in and out of their reservations you don’t think there would be a war breaking out? What I know is the people in the strip are very much abused by Israel and Egypt. It’s debatable the reasons, but regardless it’s what’s happening. I’m not saying they are all innocent too, of course they attack their neighbors as well. But you can’t ignore what Israel does back with a heavy hand. If you aren’t sure about the conditions in the strip, you can read this article on the items blocked to the people there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goods_allowed/banned_for_import_into_Gaza
last I heard, Israel had relaxed some restrictions on goods coming into Palestine.
but they do want to check all ships and cargo for smuggled weapons.
nothing wrong with that.
why shouldn’t Israel put pressure on Hamas?
in any case, after hearing Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, a senior Palestinian official released the statement that the speech was a declaration of war.
I’ll never be convinced that Hamas or the Palestinian leadership will ever truly want peace.
it just isn’t in them…to the detriment of the Palestinian people.
The Israelis were being attacked before the “the office complexes and Section 8 housing” were even built…example…The 6 Day War in ’67.
Phil….I’m still not seeing numbered posts.
is it just me?
Ira is already not playing nice.
he doesn’t want to….he’s a troll.
