Officer Brandon Logue is the Henderson Police Department’s Officer of the Month for May 2011.
During the month of May, Officer Logue responded to 671 Vance Street to assist another officer in reference to a disorderly person. The disorderly male person was described as a black male wearing a red baseball cap, no shirt and blue jeans standing outside the address in front of a tan vehicle. On arriving at the address a male fitting the description was seen. At the scene officers spoke with a female who stated that the suspect had used her car and either had a gun on his person or in the car. Officer Logue was informed and patted the suspect’s clothing for weapons and none were located. Officer Logue checked warrants on the suspect and once the suspect found there were warrants issued for him he fled on foot.
Officer Logue pursued on foot and Officer Myers pursued on her patrol vehicle. After a brief pursuit, Yarborough was apprehended without incident. Officers returned to 671 Vance Street and obtained consent to search the vehicle that belonged to the female. The vehicle was a tan 1986 Buick Century. During the search officers recovered a handgun from a blue and yellow bag sitting in the rear seat behind the driver’s seat. A check of the firearm by serial number resulted in the discovery the firearm was reported stolen. A check of the suspect’s criminal record revealed he has a felony conviction. The suspect was arrested under the warrants previously issued for him and charged with resist, delay and obstructing a law enforcement officer, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
