Presidents Weekly Address: Putting the American People First. While members of Congress are at home in their districts, President Obama asks Americans that agree that it’s time to put country before party and pass stalled bills to help grow our economy to let them know.
In national politics, the Ames Iowa Straw Poll is in the news, with Bachmann, Paul and Pawlenty in the 1,2 and 3 positions. However, Pawlenty on Sunday announced his decision to drop out of the race citing lack of support. “I wish it would have been different. But obviously the pathway forward for me doesn’t really exist so we are going to end the campaign,” Pawlenty said on ABC’s “This Week”. “I wish him well,” Bachmann said. “He brought a really important voice into the race and I am grateful that he was in. He was really a very good competitor.”
In local news, Henderson was mentioned in an article on WRAL this weekend. Barbara Ann Lassiter, a Henderson mother who was badly burned in a June house fire, has been released from the hospital and reunited with her four children after seven weeks apart.
