Operation Soldiers Christmas Update—October 18th, 2011

HELP!!!!!! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!

We have only 7 days left in our Soldiers Donation drive and we have not had many donations. We really need more community support at this point. It has been a hard year financially here in Henderson and we really did expect to have fewer donations this year, but we hoping to have more by this point. Please help us make this an enjoyable Christmas season for our selected soldier unit in Iraq.

The students are working on their pen pal letters and their ornament creations, and the cash donations at this point are less than $300.00. Some of the drop boxes are completely empty, while others only have small items so far.

There is a raffle currently ongoing that also has had just limited support. On the website www.operationsoldiers.org you can see the listing and pictures of the raffle items. Raffle tickets are available at the Henderson-Vance County Chamber of Commerce from 9am to 4pm each weekday or by contacting Marianne Miller at 252-436-1064. Tickets sell for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. All proceeds from the raffle will go to our postage costs and the purchase of some of our high ticket request items if needed.

Pay Pal is available at the website for cash donations. Please go to the website www.operationsoldiers.org and follow the prompts provided to donate funds for our promotion.

Drop boxes have been distributed and can be found at the following locations around the community: Vance Furniture; The Daily Dispatch; Community Care Partners; Maria Parham Medical Center; DataForge; Henderson-Vance County Chamber of Commerce; Prim Residential Rentals; Staples Distribution Center; Vance County Schools Administration Building.

Some of the items requested by our soldiers are: Play Station games for multi players, Portable game systems or hand held game systems (sports or martial arts games), Kitchen matches for the guys that smoke pipes, footballs and soccer balls, dental picks the same as the metal ones that dentists use. Also, they would like toiletries and pairs of white socks. Food items like jerky, popcorn, or pasta are on the wish list. If you or your company would like to purchase one of the big ticket items (Xbox or Play Station system or Kindle Reader Tablet) please contact Marianne Miller thru the website or by calling 252-436-1064.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!
