This weeks President’s message discusses how the death of Moammar Qadhafi in Libya and the announcement that troops from Iraq will return home by the end of the year are strong reminders that the United States has renewed its leadership in the world.
Last week, he made a press conference speech regarding this as well, if you missed it, here ya go:
The President also sent out a letter regarding the troops.
On the first day of my Administration, roughly 180,000 troops were deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. By the end of this year that number will be cut in half, and we’ll continue to draw it down.
I’ll rephrase that for you. “I’m moving 90,000 troops from Iraq to Afghanistan by the end of 2011.”
