Yesterday many people said thanks at their dinner table, and I’d like to share a thank you letter sent to us by a reader thanking Lindsey Davidson, Administrative Secretary for the City’s Public Works Department.
As a volunteer for the Find a Grave web site I was looking for information on a few people who are (supposedly) buried in Elmwood Cemetery and was lucky to come across Lindsey Davidson Administrative Secretary for the City of Henderson Public Works Department. I explained what I needed and she was very helpful, looking through the electronic records and SOME of the handwritten records as well. Before we left I had the information I needed and Ms.Davidson gave me photo copies of the map of the whole cemetery and of the “old section” (with the plots and their numbers and with the 2 plots I was looking for highlighted). The residents of Vance County are lucky to have Lindsey Davidson, she is a very helpful resource for Elmwood Cemetery records.– Gravehunter13
Many times, people are quick to express negative feedback, and not enough positive feedback. If you have received good service by an employee, notify their manager. Support the local people, organizations and businesses that do a good job to you. If you don’t, they may not be able to stick around to provide that good job in the future.
Today, many either celebrate Black Friday or Buy Nothing Day. Although neither is an official holiday, they represent the two flip sides of the economy. Black Friday to encourage shop till you drop, and Buy Nothing Day to drop shopping. Black Friday is not actually a holiday, but most non-retail employers give their employees the day off, increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005, although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate, have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time. Buy Nothing Day (BND) is an international day of protest against consumerism observed by social activists. Typically celebrated the Friday after American Thanksgiving in North America and the following day internationally, in 2011 the dates are November 25 and 26 respectively.
