Vance-Granville Community College’s Student Government Association has elected a slate of officers to serve during the 2011-2012 year.
The new leaders include President Katina D. Harris of Warrenton, a College Transfer (Associate in Science) student; Vice President Jonathan Marrow of Henderson, an Associate Degree Nursing major; Secretary Goldie Davis, a School-Age Education major from Henderson; Treasurer Brooke Allen, a Franklin County Early College High School student from Louisburg; Public Information Officer Rachel Williams of Oxford, a College Transfer (Associate in Arts) student; and Parliamentarian Diane Power of Oxford, a College Transfer (Associate in Arts) student. Davis is an officer for a second consecutive year, having served as Public Information Officer in 2010-2011.
As SGA president, Harris is also the student trustee, representing the interests of her fellow students at all meetings of the VGCC Board of Trustees.
The Student Government Association is designed to promote the general welfare of the college in a democratic fashion and to facilitate communication among the student body, the faculty, and the administration. SGA also provides a means through which students can promote interest in student activities, both on and off campus.
