We have a story today regarding Vance County School teachers achieving National Board of Professional Teaching Standars certification.  Those educators earning the 10-year certification include: April Andrews, Janette Johnson, Cynthia Simpson and Mary Willis, all of Zeb Vance Elementary School; Chris Leas of E.O. Young Jr. Elementary School; Amanda O’Connor of E.M. Rollins Elementary School; and Ann Behar of Northern Vance High School.

Here is Gov. Perdue’s statement on the 1,244 North Carolina teachers who earned National Board Certification.

“National Board Certification is a rigorous and demanding process and I want to congratulate the dedicated and talented educators who earned this distinction,” Gov. Perdue said. “Every child in North Carolina deserves a great education and a great teacher.

“Our state’s investments in our teachers have paid off. This is exactly why our state cannot afford to turn back on our legacy of investing in education,” Gov. Perdue said.
