A new report released by a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that wants corporate incentives to be more accountable and effective ranks North Carolina’s incentives program second in the nation in terms of accountability and job-creation effectiveness.  In four of five programs North Carolina officials have inserted job?related performance requirements, requirements that employers do not shift workers from existing facilities and that they keep subsidized facilities in operation for a minimum period, wage standards that for two programs are linked to market rates, and requirements that subsidized employers provide health care coverage and pay a portion of the premium.  (read more)

As of this writing, the Iowa caucus results are coming in so I don’t know who will be #1, but currently Romney, Santorum and Paul are in just about a 3 way tie, Romney having a slight lead with about 31% reporting in.


Reader SS informed us that Harper Prints will be closing its doors, after being opened in 1974, as the company assets are acquired by North Carolina based Classic Graphics, launching Classic’s position as the largest privately owned graphic communications company in the Carolinas.  (read more)
