Vance County Schools – High School Exam Schedule

The first semester exam schedule for students at Northern and Southern Vance high schools has been set and exams will begin next week for 2012.

At both schools, students in grades 9-12 will take exams according to the following schedule:

  • Thursday, January 12: first-period exam
  • Friday, January 13: second-period exam
  • Tuesday, January 17: third-period exam
  • Wednesday, January 18: fourth-period exam

Each day, exams will begin at 8 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. after eating lunch. On each of the exam days at the high schools, students at Eaton-Johnson and Henderson middle schools will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. because they share bus transportation with the high school students.

Make-up exams will be administered in the afternoon of each testing day with the permission of the teacher and principal. All make-up exams must be completed within 10 days of the missed exams.

Western Vance High School will follow its own exam schedule in order to have mid-year graduation on Thursday, January 19. The Vance County Early College High School completed its first semester exams prior to the Christmas break.

Monday, January 16, is the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with all Vance County Schools closed.

Wednesday, January 18, marks the end of the first semester of classes for students in Vance County Schools. Both Thursday, January 19, and Friday, January 20, are designated as teacher workdays with no school for students (except at the Early College High School). Students return to classes on Monday, January 23, to begin the second semester.
