We don’t have enough crime in Henderson?
Zoom in on the watch in the picture. Also the bag as the perp is exiting the bank. I’m sure law enforcement has already explored this lead, but minor details lead to major evidence.
Although the mask and hoodie conceal a majority of identity, rear belt/jean logo still stand out, as does the clear image of his watch. Little things to look for as simple street interrogations, relative to the surrounding neighborhood area perp fled off to. PLUS anyone desperate enough to carry out such a crime possibly wouldn’t have any other pants to change into.
Hooch,
The quality of the pictures is a major plus in the detection of this bank robber and a credit to SunTrust’s branch and the physical security group. When I worked with a financial corporation many times the video recording and live viewing was not of this high quality. This has me wondering if SunTrust is using face recognition software with their branch security camera systems. Such software has the potential of identifying this robber upon his entrance into another SunTrust branch for any reason, alerting the security team who can contact local authorities all potentially before the robber presents his smiling face to the teller.
Hooch, one more minor point, look again at the first two and the last images in the series. Notice the status change from surveillance to alarm and the time stamps. When sentenced to his 8 years in prison he can ponder what better things he could have done with his life in that one minute of time.
The suspect has been arrested for this bank heist. I thought about that Michael, given you can see the eyes nose and mouth it would be possible to do some rough facial scanning against the mug shot database.
If using face recognition software they would not need to go against a police database to match the face. All they need is to match the face to their own database. This shortens the cycle and avoids any complications of business and government collusion.
By the description in the paper, I am assuming he used this as an opportunity to get a place to stay that is out of weather, has dependable meals, and comfortable bed.
What would be the “complications of business and government collusion”?
Nice job OPD. If only this dummy would have known that just up I85(N) he could have been in Vance County and had a better chance of getting away with the robbery. Especially since he was living only 2-3 blocks from the SunTrust Bank. Not to say that I agree with robbing a bank but when was the last time a bank robbery…..or any crime in Vance County was solved within the first 48 hours? Answer….not many…if any!!! Crime pays in Vance County according to individuals I see riding with them BIG RIMS…PAINTED UP CARS….BLING>>>BLING!!! I bet OPD gets a Federal Charge out of it too…Live by sword….rob by sword…go to prison(or die) by sword!!
Deception, how do we know for sure that none of the bank robberies in Henderson have not been solved?
I didn’t say that none of the bank robberies in Vance County were ever solved? I simply said look at the crime statistics, read local paper, and watch the news and you will see(unless you’re biased) that most major crimes don’t get solved in Vance County. Major crimes being murder, armed robbery, felony B&E, etc. and if they do happen to ‘catch’ someone it seems to always be either PLED down to a lesser offense or the case dismissed for one reason or another. Statistics don’t lie…….but people do!! Why do you think crime is lower in Granville County? They have da projects just like Henderson but their ‘projects’ are managed a little better by the Oxford Housing Authority unlike Henderson and Vance County which seems to strive off of subsidized housing. At least a few of the slum lords seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. Don’t have to name em’ b/c if you are from the area I promise you that you will already know at least 2 or 3.
Changing the subject just a bit. Sometime, when you’ve nothing else to do–look at newspaper photos of County Commissioners and City Council Members from other places–in this state and others–is it as noticeable to you as to me that they are usually dressed in business attire for meetings and photographs. To me, such care for appearance shows pride, prosperity and good manners and intelligence. Just saying—.
Deception:
I agree with you. The subsidized housing market does appear to be managed better in Oxford than Henderson. Oxford, to me, has gained some of the appeal that Henderson has lost but I am not about to abandon ship. Low income / free housing is a far too prevalent in Henderson and that kind of living does tend to breed crime and produce career criminals. When people realize they do not have to work at all to house, feed or clothe themselves then there is a major problem. It is truthful to say that many areas in Henderson, most off main roads, are eye soars to look at. We are a poor city and county and that is what happens when citizens choose to live off of Uncle Sam or more directly, you and me.
Our tax base has shrunk because we have so many who “stay” in Henderson and do not pay taxes because if they did then they could not live for free. Those are the ones with the fake attitudes and very low self esteem. Since the city and county have limited monitary resources we cannot keep many of the good officers we have. Do not get me wrong, we have some great law enforcement officers and some very green ones too. Henderson has become a training ground for these public service careers. Just ask the firemen here and I am sure many will tell you the same.
These are sad facts and facts that must be proved wrong thru change. Henderson does solve it’s fair share of crimes but because we have such easy living for criminals it maxes out our enforcement resources. Te cyce continues when the experienced leave town for better pay. You’re correct, it all works together. I do not like to argue and my question to you was not meant to upset you if it did.
Actually while Oxford does seem to do a better job with their subsidized housing situation, it looks lately as if Oxford is starting to look more and more similar to Henderson. As far as the HPD goes, I think they do a very good job — but I believe the courts do not do anything with them but send them back to the streets to victimize us again. In fact, the only way I see any so-called justice being done is when the HPD gets the Feds involved. I read recently a story indicating that just the name “criminal justice system” sort of sums up the whole problem. We need a “victim justice system.”
