Valentines day was a busy day at the white house apparently, with numerous video releases. Some are awards, some are political, some are technical and informative. They are listed below for your enjoyment. I’d like to know if you’d like me to post all the videos released by the white house daily on a regular basis. The press briefing is very informative, if a bit unexciting, but about the best source for info on the administrations stance and happenings on the days issues. On to the videos!
In December the White House asked Americans to tell us what losing $40 per paycheck would mean to them and their families if Congress did not extend the payroll tax cut. On Feb. 14, some of the people who shared their stories came to the White House to hear President Obama speak and took a moment to encourage other Americans to speak out on this important issue.

Welcome to the open lines!
WTVD 11 was outside city hall today asking passerbys to interview regarding the water bills
Really, there has been plenty of notice that the city council had changed the billing. It is posted on the window in city hall where one e can pay the bill, it has been in the bills, and in the Dispatch.
This is not to say that the mails can’t always be counted on to make timely deliveries, but city hall has a slot outside the building where you can leave payments.
Would that we could get WTVD to come on up here and listen to taxpayers complaints about all the rental property here–rather than owned occupied homes.
If these complainers get a second chance claiming ignorance–well–!?
Don’t blame anybody but your city council for the slums. Apparantly the are in the slum lords pckets. . They won’t make them fix the house up or condemn them. The answer is condemn, take property, tear down and sell the lots.
Well if you happen to call Sara Coffey I’m sure she will tell you what you want to hear but trust me….IT’S A LIE!!!! It’s amazing that she has forgotten just how many times she tried to get that seat on the city council and LOST!! If Bernard Alston hadn’t stunk up his Atty. mess she would have never beaten him…not in a million years. No matter how many hand shakes and LIES she gives and tells. This is what represents you citizens of Henderson…..council members who smile in your face….while cutting your water off behind your back. I heard a rumor today that all the gimmicks such as the water issue were in response to poor fiscal management by the council and now since the sewar is coming up through some roads(due to poor infrastructure) they are trying to do whatever they can to get $$$ to upgrade the infrastructure. All of this on the taxpayers expense so if you are 1 day late on a water bill thank your city officials b/c they all wanted this. Good Job council members!! I heard a lady ask another lady at Walmart tonight could she bring her children over to her house b/c her water was turned off and she didn’t have a way to bathe her children b/c she got paid on Friday which happened to be 1 day too late for city officials. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why all the secrecy around the Fairfield Inn?
Or the homeless shelter planned to replace the America’s Best Value Inn?
Phil thanks for the gasbuddy link.
Deception, the Council is just being responsible by setting up utility payments just like all other agencies, a many years too late. The City has lost hundreds of thousands of $$ by letting people go several months without paying their water/sewer bills, with many walking away without paying. Skip paying you electric bill and see how dark it gets. Try seting up a payment plan with them. Good luck. This costs the Henderson taxpayers ( are you one?) by rate hikes to pay expenses. Plenty of notice was given to customers of this change, and it was moved from a November start to February to give more notice. The only thing I see wrong with this, as with any change, people get confused, screw up, ignore it, etc. The council and/or staff should have NOT made long time good customers pay the new deposit when their water was cut off due to the new change. I believe it was intended only for those who were staying constantly behind in bill payment, and thus a new security deposit was needed for those folks to offset loss, just like all new accounts now need ( or a letter of good staznding from last utility provider).
The changes I see that are needed are: 1.Give a grace period of 7-10 days after bill is due. It would seem that someone who gets $$ only once a month ( fixed income) might not be on a schedule that fits this 20 day notice.
2. No security deposit for FIRST time late on bill customers- a one time exdemption,. For this fiasco Tuesday, many very long time customers, who were caught off gaurd by the billing cycle/due date changes, were asked to pay a security deposit. Not needed for these folks, because their good payment history shows its not needed.
And 3.. Possibly change the look of the payment notice. Damn, that thing is confusing!
And btw, give back the late payment fee, the reconnect fee, and the deposit to those who paid Tuesday that were the excellent payment history folks. Apologize, and move on.
