The process for eighth-grade students to apply to enroll in the Vance County Early College High School for the 2012-2013 school year is beginning with information sessions for parents and students at Eaton-Johnson Middle School on Tuesday, March 6, and at Henderson Middle School on Tuesday, March 13. Sessions at each of the schools will begin at 6 p.m.
All eighth-grade students and their parents are invited to attend the sessions.
Michael Bullard, principal of Vance County Early College High School, will lead the sessions.
The Vance County Early College High School is located on the campus of Vance-Granville Community College near Henderson and is in its fourth year of operation. The Early College serves students in grades 9-13 during the five-year program that provides students with course work to complete their high school education and receive two years of college credits at no cost.
As for the end result, isn’t early College pretty much the same as Community College’s college transfer program? And isn’t the funding for Public Schools at least 50% more per student than for Community College students? (much more when you consider local county funding) So … why is it we’re not saving the 50% and letting our Community Colleges run the college program?
Just asking …..
