A public invitation to Tryon Palace now appears on specially-marked Pepsi Cola cans. PepsiCo has launched a new campaign to encourage attendance at Tryon Palace, North Carolina’s Colonial Capitol, and the N.C. History Center in New Bern, the “Birthplace of Pepsi.” The historic site is being promoted on millions of Pepsi cans marketed in North Carolina and South Carolina with a 20 percent discount code for admission to help drive some traffic to the venue, according to Darren Clark, PepsiCo governmental affairs director and a Tryon Palace Commission member. Chairman of the board of PepsiCo, CEO Indra K. Nooyi, announced Monday to the company’s 159,000 global stockholders that the company will further support its roots by holding the 2012 annual shareholders meeting at the N.C. History Center on May 2.
