I’ve enjoyed a lovely week back home in North Carolina. It was an honor to talk with many veterans at the Vietnam Veterans’ Homecoming Celebration at Charlotte Motor Speedway over the weekend and I was happy to meet with many constituents and businesses back in the district.
Throughout the week, I talked to members of our community and heard about the issues facing our state. My travels took me to many parts of the Second District, including a class of students at Clement Elementary, the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce, firefighters at a groundbreaking ceremony at Cary Fire Station 8, employees at a ribbon cutting ceremony at ACDI in Nashville, and at the Special Forces Regimental Day at Ft. Bragg. In this newsletter, you will find photos and information about some of the events I attended over the past week.

I would like to take this time to wish you and your family a happy and restful Easter holiday. May God bless you, our state, and this great nation.

Vietnam Veterans’ Homecoming Celebration
This weekend, I attended the Vietnam Veterans’ Homecoming Celebration in Charlotte. The event was hosted by the USO and the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters, along with Charlotte Motor Speedway.
From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank our Vietnam Veterans and the brave men and women of our armed forces for their noble sacrifice in the defense of liberty and freedom abroad. It was an honor and a pleasure to be able to spend time with these American heroes this weekend and thank them for their service.
Below are a few photos from the Homecoming Celebration. Click here to see more photos from the event.

Growing Jobs in the Second District

On Wednesday, I attended the ribbon cutting for American Computer Development Incorporated’s (ACDi) new facility in Nashville, NC. ACDI’s expansion will allow them to add over 20 new manufacturing jobs to their current workforce of 50 employees – bringing an important boost to our local economy.
This is just a small example of the shared success that our private sector can create for the local economy and the reason I am working hard to protect it. One of my top priorities in Congress has been to pass legislation that encourages small business growth and expansion to promote an environment in which more companies can create jobs in North Carolina. I will not rest until we are successful and can enjoy sustainable job creation.
