The Henderson-Vance County Chamber of Commerce Leadership-Vance 2012 program is seeking requests for its Community Service Project. All interested civic groups, non-profit organizations and other community service groups may submit requests to the Chamber for possible activities for the day.
The project activities must be able to be completed within the course of one (eight hour) day by approximately twenty-two people, and the Leadership-Vance 2012 class as a whole will decide the project they will undertake. Suggested activities include clean-ups, volunteer time with children or senior citizens, etc.
Director of Membership Services Rachel Hedrick considers Community Services Day a realistic extension of the lessons learned by the group at the Leadership-Vance Retreat. “Having participated in team building exercises at the retreat, this project gives participants the chance to utilize their skills and gain ‘hands-on experience’ while giving back to the community in which they live,” Hedrick said.
“It is significant in that it may be the first step toward a leadership role for these participants in their community,” she continued. This project is a requirement for completion of the Leadership-Vance program.
The deadline for project requests is Friday, May 18, 2012. For more information or to submit project requests, interested parties should contact Hedrick at the Henderson-Vance County Chamber of Commerce at (252) 438-8414 or membership@hendersonvance.org.
