I want to talk to you about why I plan to vote against Amendment One.
This proposed amendment could harm women, children, families and businesses across North Carolina.
I have posted a video outlining some of the ways Amendment One is wrong for all of North Carolina.
On May 8, I’ll be casting my vote against Amendment One. I hope you will join me.
Beverly Perdue
Amendment One will pass by a landslide, get over it Bev.
People seem to vote against their own self interest. This will not help marriages. Marriage is already defined in law as between a man and a woman. But it will harm the possibilities of bring new corporations to North Carolina. No national or international corporation that has already developed a health care program that acknowledges same sex unions will want to come to NC and create a separate health care program just for our state. Maybe you will say we don’t want those kinds of corporations anyway, but if you are talking about trying to make our state more business friendly and attractive, this amendment will not help.
It is also true that at least one Federal court has rule one amendment like this one to be a violation of citizens equal rights.
Rick, you of all people, a retired minister should be in favor of Amendment One. Makes one wonder what you preached in the pulpit all those years. Of course I have my values and you have yours. You won’t change me and I won’t change you but there again it’s not what I think but what God’s word says. If you wish to side with evil (by God’s standards) for financial/economic reasons so be it. Can you really make a case to condone this? Don’t sell yourself out for mammon.
Amen Mudball; wish I could press the like buuton on your comment more. Rick Brand….you should be ashamed of yourself!!! Did you read the Bible when you preached or were you just after members to increase your membership so your salary would go up? Let’s hear from you; what did YOUR bible teach? Perdue is playing the money card on this one!
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone. It is in my Bible. Love your enemies. Care for the widows. Welcome the foreigner in your country. Divorce is a sin. Abraham had two wives and two concubines. King David and Solomon had so many wives I bet you cannot name them all. Blessed are the peace makers. If you look at a woman or a man with lust, you have already committed adultery. The Spirit will lead you into all truth, which would suggest we do not have it all now. God is light and in him is no darkness. The kingdom of God welcomes those who give water to the thirst, cloth to the naked, food to the hungry, visits those in prison, helps the sick. The best gift is the one who gives the widow’s mite. Love is kind, love is not boastful. Love does not seek its own way. Why can’t we love the ones we love and let others love the ones they love?
Rick, these people believe the bible says a caretaker of a child should not have any legal rights to a child. That the bible says one person who loves another has no right to care for their own family.
These people are voting for discrimination.
Jesus commands us to love one another as He loves us (John 13:34). If God is impartial and loves us with impartiality, then we need to love others with that same high standard. Jesus teaches in Matthew 25 that whatever we do to the least of His brothers, we do to Him. If we treat a person with contempt, we are mistreating a person created in God’s image; we are hurting somebody whom God loves and for whom Jesus died. May Galatians 3:28 be completely realized, “There is neither *** nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
It is considered progressive to allow anyone who wants to marry the person they love to do so. It is not my job to judge what others consider to be “right” when it comes to their choice of romance. Personally, it’s not for me. Now, in a time where states are searching for ways to drive revenue this certainly is an option. Nobody says you have to agree with it…but then again, do people agree with everything you do?
What I want to know is What did Jesus say about Homosexuals and *******s in the four gospels?
For those wondering, I think our filtering is *’s out the word j e w
Rick, I noticed how you left out a part about a marriage is between a man and woman. Here’s a question for you. If two men(or women) get married; who is the Daddy? Who is the Momma? They have to adopt a child, tell him(or her) lies about who is who. Now is that teaching the child right?
There’s a whole lot of kids that don’t have a momma or a daddy, or both.
people recently discussed how we can get more people on this site, even “officials”. I remarked how when “officials” used their names on here years ago , people then attacked. Rick is brave to use his name, his opinions. Matthew 25 applies
There is a passage in Genesis about a man and a woman in marriage, and the epistles have comments about leaders being married to one woman, but my question was what Jesus said in the four gospels about homosexuals and *******s? There were certainly present in his country while he was alive.
It is not my problem to determine how they identify themselves. One might be called Boss and the Other the Helper. When they fill out forms they can deal with it their own way. Don’t all adopting parents have to deal with telling the child their history? Why should this couple be any different?
Remember we will be spending millions to rewrite and reprint and to redo all kinds of legal documents to include this amendment and then even the Republican leadership believes it will be overturned in 20 years. Or overturned by the courts. That is a waste of dollars we do not have and could use for education.
Governor Bev Perdue is also wrong for NC families!!
