VGCC offers course on building, repairing computers


Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for a course that will teach area residents how to get the best performance out of their personal computers.

“PC Maintenance & Repair” is scheduled to be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m., May 21 through Aug. 15, on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

Mitch Evans, the Director of Infrastructure Services in the VGCC Information Technology department, is the instructor for this hands-on course. Topics covered during the course will include networking, printer sharing, file sharing, installing add-on hardware and software. Evans will include tips on scanning and removing virus information, spyware and ad-ware. Students will also completely build and assemble a PC during this class.

The registration fee for this course is $175, with other college fees totaling $6. For one course per semester, registration fees are waived for N.C. resident seniors, ages 65 and above.
