The first motion picture Academy Awards were given out on this week in 1929. Unlike the big hoopla surrounding the awards now, about 270 people attended that first ceremony. The silent movie “Wings” was chosen as best picture. Many of the movie stars honored with Oscars through the years were born in May, among them Katherine Hepburn and John Wayne, along with Gary Cooper, Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart. When the first Oscars were awarded in 1929, Americans spent $720 million that year going to the movies. Now, motion picture theaters generate more than $13 billion in revenue annually. Has anyone seen a notice from the County telling about the new County’s new web-site?
Take a gander at the new web-site, http://www.vancecounty.org
It has a professional look to it.
I’ll give a spin to see if the county managers and elected officials have working email.

Well Michael, you just told every thug and crook in Vance county you weren’t home.
