On June 7, 2012 around 9:38 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to a purse snatching that just occurred at Dollar General, 210 Raleigh Road, Henderson. Suspect was to have taken a 79 year-old female’s purse from the cart she was using and ran outside the store. With the help of concerned citizens, officers were able to locate the direction the suspect had run. Suspect was apprehended at the rear of Mr. Williams on Raleigh Road. The female’s purse and contents were also recovered. The suspect, Abraham Braverly Joyner, 16, of 825 Nicholas Street, Henderson was arrested and charged with larceny from a person. Mr. Joyner received a $25,000 secured bond pending a court hearing.
Correction: The location of the incident was Dollar Tree, 210 Raleigh Road, but the purse was found behind Advanced Auto Parts and Dollar General on Raleigh Road.
Public whipping is in order.
