To say this has been an eventful week would be an understatement! In this newsletter you will find my comments on the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare and the failure of the Senate to address the jobs bills we have passed in the House.
You will also find information and links to press releases, video and photos from press conferences and interviews I have given this week on the Obamacare ruling, the economy and jobs, and the contempt vote on Attorney General Eric Holder’s activity related to “Fast and Furious.”

Keeping Job Creation a Top Priority
This week, I joined House leadership in a press conference calling on the Senate to vote on the jobs bills we have passed in the House. As last month’s unemployment numbers clearly show, our free enterprise system continues to suffer under the job-destroying policies of President Obama.
In the House, we will not rest until pro-growth, free market solutions are embraced and signed into law. We have passed over 30 job-creating bills that languish in the Senate as Democrats refuse to do their job and fight for the American people. As public servants, we must have the courage to act, and I will continue to do so each day if that means more jobs and the protection of our free market system for tomorrow.

Supreme Court Validates Obamacare as Largest Tax Increase in History
Yesterday, the Supreme Court verified that Obamacare is a tax – one that increases the financial burdens on Americans by $500 billion and will go down in history as the most significant expansion of government power over the lives of its citizens. This law has been and continues to be bad policy for all Americans and future generations.
I respect our judicial system and the legislative process by which our nation is governed, but am deeply concerned about what this means for the future of our country. This decision by the Supreme Court sends a direct message to Congress and policy makers that we have to get back to work to repeal this law and replace it with effective, efficient reforms.
I will not rest until the entire law has been repealed and patient-centered reforms are put in place.

Rep. Renee Ellmers surprised by High Court decision
North Carolina News Network
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — One member of Congress from North Carolina has a unique perspective on Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling: U.S. Representative Renee Ellmers is both a legislator and a health care provider. She said she was surprised with the court’s view on the law. “I wasn’t expecting them to rule and call it a tax, which it is. It’s the largest tax increase in American history, so, you know, it was a little bit of a different perspective than I was expecting,” said Ellmers. She said she and her fellow representatives are committed and will work even harder toward a full repeal.
