Additional Tax-Aide Volunteers are needed to provide FREE personal income tax assistance to area low- to moderate- income residents with an emphasis on those over age 60. This IRS / AARP Foundation co-sponsored volunteer organization is the nation’s largest free tax preparation and assistance service. The Tax-Aide Volunteers assist area residents at the Vance County Senior Center during tax season.
Area volunteers will be trained in Federal and NC State income tax law and e-filing procedures so they can help local low-income residents. Daytime training classes with free materials are conducted by an IRS trained instructor. After passing the certification exam, each volunteer is asked to work at least one daytime 4-hour session per week during tax season, Feb. 1 to April 15.
Your help is needed to continue this valuable community service in the Henderson area. The Tax-Aide Program Organizational Meeting will be held at the Vance County Senior Center on September 26. Please contact the senior center at (252) 430 – 0257 for additional information.
