Congresswoman Renee Ellmers: Jobs, Veterans, and Service Academy Nominations

As we continue to see disappointing news regarding employment, promoting job creation remains my top priority.

The total number of “underemployed” Americans was 23.2 million in September, including those unemployed (12 million), those who are no longer looking for work (2.5 million), and those who are working part-time because no other work is available (8.6 million). The House has passed almost 40 jobs bills, many of which are stalled in the Senate.  You can track the status of these bills on this page of my website.

In addition to the work I am doing in Washington to promote job creation, I will be hosting a job fair for veterans later this month in the district.  Below you will find specific information about the Recruit-A-Vet Employment Fair scheduled to take place on October 25th in Sanford.

Also in this newsletter, you will find a reminder about the October 31 deadline for submitting applications for service academy nominations.

Please share this information with your friends by forwarding this email or using the “Tell a Friend” form in the right sidebar.

You can find additional information on these and other issues on my website at ellmers.house.gov and by following me on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Veterans Job Fair

I am hosting the Recruit-A-Vet Employment Fair for veterans and military service members on Thursday, October 25 at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center in Sanford, NC. Over 100 businesses have been invited to attend the employment fair to answer questions, accept resumes and interview applicants.

We owe our veterans a huge debt of gratitude for their service to our country. For the sacrifices members of our military have made to ensure our freedoms, we need to do everything possible to make sure they have the best career opportunities available when they return to civilian life.

We want this to be a great success for our veterans, as well as for our local businesses that have so much to gain from the experience our veterans offer.  If you have any questions regarding the event you can contact my office in Dunn at 910/230-1910.
