The Vance County High Schools’ Alumni Reunion honoring former coaches and athletes will be held Friday, October 26, at Northern Vance High School in connection with the Northern Vance-Southern Vance football game to be played in Viking Stadium.
The game begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Additional events are planned before and after the football game to celebrate the contributions of coaches and athletes in sports involving Vance County Schools’ teams.
Among those to be honored during the festivities are former coaches Emeron J. Cash, Lonnie Davis, James Graham, Darlynn Oxendine, Joe Stepusin and Ed Wilson.
Special food will be available before and during the football game as part of the celebration. A dance will be held at Northern Vance High following the game.
All former students, athletes, teachers, other staff members and families are invited to attend.
Jason Brown, a graduate of Northern Vance High School and a star in the NFL, will attend. Dr. Michael Applewhite, now principal of Northern Vance High School and a former NFL player, also will be on hand. Applewhite is a 1985 graduate of the former Vance Senior High School. Both Brown and Applewhite starred for the Vikings’ football teams.
A large crowd is expected for the game and festivities, so attendees should plan to arrive early. To assist in making the process of getting everyone through the gate of the stadium to move quickly, people attending are asked to bring correct change for the $6 admission to the game in Viking Stadium.
