The students at Northern Vance High School wanted to enter a competition at NC State, so, in order to enter this contest, they had to discover a need, and then created an invention that benefits the school as well as the community. They found that the school’s computers were collecting too much dust to the point that the cooling fans were getting clogged and the computers were failing as a result of overheating since the fans weren’t working properly. They put their heads together and created the “sirocco”: an over the computer case device that will blast the open computer case with a vortex of high pressure air and then recirculate the air and loosened dust through a filter. This video explains how they discovered the need, and how they collaborate to make their dream invention a reality.
