It was great to be home in the 2nd District this week. I was able to connect with constituents across the district including those I met at a meeting of WakeMed’s Health Career Pathfinders and an Agribusiness breakfast in Raleigh, a meeting with town officials in Robbins, and during a tour of the LORD Corporation in Cary.
Below you will find an update on the Keystone XL Pipeline, including a bipartisan letter I signed onto with 145 fellow Members of Congress requesting President Obama approve Keystone now. The project is expected to create thousands of American jobs and would help make our nation more energy independent.

This Week in the Second District
Monday evening I spoke to a group of high school students at WakeMed’s Health Career Pathfinders meeting. The Pathfinders program is for students who want to pursue healthcare as a career.
On Wednesday, I attended the Wake County Agribusiness Council Kick-Off Breakfast at the 2013 Southern Farm Show and met award winners William Coleyand Richard Jenks (pictured below). That afternoon, I met with town officials in Robbins to hear firsthand about some of the problems the town is facing.
Yesterday, I visited LORD Corporation’s World Headquarters in Cary. LORD Corp. has over 300 employees in Cary, with over 220 of those residents of the 2nd District. It is a diversified technology company that has provided innovative solutions to aerospace, defense, automotive and industrial customer problems for almost 90 years.
Keystone XL Pipeline
In last week’s newsletter, I told you about the work the Energy & Commerce Committee has been doing on the issue of the Keystone XL Pipeline approval. This week, I set up a Keystone XL board on Pinterest to allow you to easily follow the most recent developments, including a copy of Rep. Lee Terry’s letter to President Obama (which I signed onto along with 145 fellow members).
