RALEIGH — The Got to Be NC Festival will boast a large lineup of antique tractors and farm equipment May 17-19 at the State Fairgrounds, but those machines won’t be the only wheeled attractions on display.
On Friday, the festival will host a cruise-in featuring all types and eras of classic cars. The cars will be on display beginning at 3 p.m. in Dorton Arena. Trophies will be given for the best vehicles in a variety of categories. The cruise-in is open to cars, trucks, motorcycles, campers and motor homes that are restored or in original condition.
On Saturday at 1 p.m., a fleet of Harley-Davidson motorcycles will arrive in a parade. They will be on display outside Dorton Arena all afternoon.
A tractor pull will take place in the Sam G. Rand Grandstand beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday. Loud and proud antique tractors will compete to see which one can pull the most weight.
That amount of horsepower might draw more than a few men to the festival. And if they’re in need of a trim, they can take advantage of another attraction on wheels, Wahl Clipper Corp.’s mobile barbershop. Wahl’s eighth annual Face the Day Tour will bring its 30-foot barbershop and master barbers to the festival to give free trims and shaves. For every trim or shave performed on the tour, Wahl will donate $1 to ZERO, a nonprofit organization focused on prostate cancer screening and education. The barbershop will be located outside Dorton Arena, near the Waterfall.
The Got to Be NC Festival celebrates North Carolina agriculture and heritage with educational exhibits, entertainment and the Food, Wine and Beer Expo. Festival hours are noon to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free. Information is available at www.gottobencfestival.com.
